Good for quick summaries

I used the YouTube Video Summarizer for a long lecture video. It extracted key points fast. The summary was decent, saved me some time. No issues with the service. Simple and effective.

Useful tool, some minor quirks

I tried the AI Video Summaries and the Video Transcripts for a few educational videos. It worked pretty well, the summaries were generally accurate and the transcripts were spot on for most parts. The multi-language summarization was a big plus for some of my foreign language content. My only small gripe is that for really dense videos, it sometimes missed a nuance or two, but it's still a massive time-saver. Delivery of the summaries was instant, which was great. Value for money is good, especially if you get the annual plan discount.

Handy for school stuff

So, I needed to get through a bunch of YouTube videos for a project and heard about SummYT. I signed up for the free version to check it out. The YouTube Video Summarizer was super helpful for getting the main ideas without watching every single minute. The Study Shelf feature is actually kinda cool, I could save summaries there and keep things organized. It's not perfect, like sometimes it might miss a small detail if the speaker talks really fast, but honestly, it did most of the heavy lifting. Way better than taking notes by hand for hours. Saved me a ton of time on research. The Chrome Extension was easy to install too.

how does this compare to glasp or eightify? i've used those before and they were ok, but wondering if this one is better.

N Nick J. 1 week ago
I've tried Glasp before, and SummYT's summaries feel a bit more... coherent? Hard to explain, but I prefer the way it structures the key points.

Eightify was decent, but I found SummYT's 'study shelf' feature really useful for organizing stuff, which the others didn't have in the same way. Plus, the full transcripts here are super accurate.

hey, is there actually a free version of this youtube summarizer? i wanna try it out before paying.

J Julia Martinez 1 month ago
Yeah, there totally is a free version! It's pretty good for basic stuff, lets you get a feel for it.

They have a freemium model. You can use it for some things without paying, but for all the bells and whistles, you'd need a premium plan. I think it gives you enough to decide if it's worth it though.

can i actually save all my summaries somewhere on this thing, or do they just disappear after i close the tab?

J Justin P. 1 week ago
Nah, you can totally save them. They have something called a 'study shelf' where you can keep everything organized. It's super handy.

Yeah, that's one of the best parts! It's not just a one-off summary. You can go back to them whenever you want, which is awesome if you're using it for research or school.

i'm a student, are there any special discounts for us or just the normal annual plan saving?

K Katie Taylor 1 week ago
I'm not sure about a specific student discount code that you enter. The main discount is usually for annual billing. It's worth checking their site or their FAQs though, sometimes they have specific offers during back-to-school.

I think I only saw the annual discount when I signed up. Maybe they have something closer to finals week or something? Haven't seen a dedicated student one yet, but the annual saving is still pretty good.

thinking about getting the annual plan, any idea how much cheaper that actually is compared to paying monthly?

S Sandra Gomez 4 weeks ago
From what I remember when I signed up, it was something like 20-30% cheaper if you go for the yearly option. Definitely adds up over time.

Big savings. I think my monthly bill would be way higher if I didn't get the annual. It's automatically applied when you choose the yearly subscription, so no coupon code needed.
